Sometimes we open our Bible, and we’re totally down for reading the first chapter that we see. We don’t have any other agenda, except to just surround ourselves with The Lord’s precious Word. Then there are the other times, where we are so overwhelmed with the events of our life, that we turn to our Bible in complete desperation, searching for the verses that will guide us, and encourage us in that moment.
When I first began to have a desire to read The Word, I would go over the title of every book in the Bible, and try to figure out which one I should read. Sometimes I would try my hand at the concordance in the back, but even that seemed like too big of a mountain for me. Between trying to figure out which book it was referring to (I was quite the “noob”), and what that particular phrase meant, I was left in a state of confusion.
The best gift that I have received in my walk as a Christian (besides The Bible itself, of course) was The Bible Promise Book. It is a little book, that is broken down into many different categories (e.g. faith, fear, love, financial hardships, etc.) and within each of those sections it has the scriptures that relate to them. It is such an amazing, simple, little book. There are no added extras, just the pure Word of God. I used to read this book a lot, and even now, I still do from time to time. It is not a replacement for The Bible in any way, shape, or form because it only limits the reader to a percentage of His Word, but it’s a wonderful resource to have for the new Christian, and even for the very experienced Christian.
So, if you have been struggling to read your Bible, because you’re not very familiar with it, or if you just want to have a quick way to find scriptures that relate to a certain subject, then this is a great book to have.. and it’s even inexpensive, which is always a plus. You can purchase it through this link: The Bible Promise Book – Kjv , or you can probably find it at most Christian book stores.
Oh, I almost forgot… this book has also been turned into an app, if that’s the method you most prefer. It’s for iphone/ipad, android, and windows phone too. It’s called The Bible Promise app (Click here), and it’s free! I have it on my phone, it’s so awesome, and convenient to have.
Do you have a tool or technique that you use to help you study The Bible? Leave me a comment, I would love to hear about it!
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction for instruction in righteousness:
